MoreIn collaboration with several partners in the Merano region, the Val Senales Glacier Cable Car Association offers a selection of special experience packages.
The high-altitude Ötzi Glacier Tour winds through the fascinating Hochjochferner glacier area and leads to the Tisenjoch area, where the famous “Ice Man” was discovered at 3200 metres above sea level. The Seilbahnkarte Meraner Land ticket offers hikers a reduced rate for several cable cars and lifts in Merano and environs.
To the Bella Vista mountain hut with the Glacier Experience Card: The perfect offer for walking enthusiasts and winter hikers to enjoy a fantastic snow day out on the Val Senales Glacier. In around six minutes, the Glacier cable car will whisk you up to the top station and the Glacier Hotel & Restaurant Grawand at an altitude of 3,212 metres. From here, you take the Grawand chairlift to the Ötzi Biwak mountain hut and then the Gletschersee chairlift to the valley station of the chairlift. The Bella Vista hut can then be reached on foot in about 30 minutes. Alternatively, the hut warden can arrange to pick you up at the Hintereis chairlift: call +39 0473 662140.
Price per person: € 45,00
Ticket includes return journey on the Glacier cable car, the Grawand and the Gletschersee chairlifts.
The Ötzi Glacier Tour starts at the mountain station of the Val Senales Glacier cable car, then leads over the Hochjochferner glacier and up to the discovery place of the Ice Mummy Ötzi on the Tisenjoch mountain area (3200 metres above sea level). Every Tuesday from mid-June until April, experienced mountain guides accompany Alpine hikers through the fascinating landscape of the Ötztal Alps. This one-day round trip following the footsteps of the “Ice Man” is offered as a mountain hike during the summer and a ski tour in the winter and spring.
Is it safe to hike on glaciers? With our Alpine guides, hiking the Val Senales Glacier is safe and fun. Just keep in mind the following: The total walking time is about seven to eight hours and participants are required to be in good physical shape and sure-footed. Alpine mountain experience is not needed.
